Arduino Explorer Kit Course.webp

The hardest part of starting electronics is not the code — it is not knowing what any of the parts do. This course takes you from a box of components to a working device you built and understand, one chapter at a time.

Every chapter follows the same shape: what the component is, how to wire it, the complete code, and a line-by-line explanation of why each instruction is there. Nothing is assumed. The first sketch needs no wiring at all, and by the final project you are combining a distance sensor, a display, coloured signals and sound into a single working parking assistant.

What you will build

  • Blinking and fading LEDs, and mixing any colour from three
  • A button-controlled circuit, and a keypad PIN lock
  • Light, sound and distance sensors that respond to the real world
  • Servos, stepper motors and a relay switching a separate power circuit
  • An LCD and a 7-segment display showing live readings
  • A complete smart parking assistant as the final project

How it works

Twenty-eight chapters across twelve sections, designed to be worked through in order — each one builds on the last, and every chapter lists which earlier ideas it depends on. Each ends with a real-world application question to attempt and post on the forum.

Written for the Alpsense Arduino Explorer Kit, and suitable for any Arduino Uno with the matching components.

Basic info
A complete beginner's course in Arduino electronics, built around the components in the Alpsense Arduino Explorer Kit. Starts with no assumed knowledge and ends with a full working project.
Course requirements
An Arduino Explorer Kit (or an Arduino Uno with breadboard, jumper wires, resistors and the matching components). A computer running the free Arduino IDE, and a USB cable. No soldering required.
Intended audience
Secondary students, first-time makers, school STEM programmes and anyone starting Arduino from scratch. No prior electronics or programming experience is needed.
